GPC codes

Internationally recognised codes that classify products consistently.

GPC (Global Product Classification) codes are an international standard from GS1 that classify products the same way worldwide. Each product is assigned a code that defines what it is.

  • They keep product data consistent across the platform and globally.
  • They help buyers, aggregators, and financiers identify and compare products.
  • They make reporting and analytics more meaningful and support integration and compliance.

GPC uses a hierarchy of segment, family or class, brick, and attributes. The brick code, usually eight digits, is what you assign to a product. GPC codes are not shown to customers; they work behind the scenes.
